Lets be honest everyone loves some form of Ginger ! Here's a few easy and helpful tips for this weeks special organic harvest from the KIN KIN FRESH farm.
WIKI WANK: Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a flowering plant whose rhizome, ginger root or ginger, is widely used as a spice and a folk medicine. It is a herbaceous perennial which grows annual false stems made of the rolled bases of leaves about one meter tall bearing narrow leaf blades.
HOT STORAGE TIP: store your ginger root in small pieces in a snap happy and FREEZE. To use, remove a piece from the freezer and grate the frozen ginger using a microplane grater.
HOT COOKING TIP: grate your ginger over anything cooking in a steamer basket to give it some fragrant spice warmth.
FRESH RECIPE: Versatile Ginger & Spring Onion sauce
30g ginger, peeled and crushed
100g sliced spring onions (approx. 1 bunch)
100 ml grapeseed oil 1 pinch Salt
1) Process ginger and spring onions with the salt to a paste and place in a heat proof bowl 2) Heat grapeseed oil to smoking point in a pot and carefully pour over puree whilst stirring to cook out the mix.
3) Allow to cool and serve with anything poached or steamed... or store in the refrigerator for
